Options Menu
Open the options menu by pressing the button shown in blue.
The Options menu contains ”Track settings” which must be changed before hitting track and “Track Processing” settings which can be changed after tracking.
Track Settings
The Track Tracking model can be chosen from “Translate / Scale / Rotate” or “Perspective”. If the object you are tracking changes shape a lot due to perspective changes then please chose “Perspective”
Tracking Quality can be set to higher if you cannot get a good track due to motion blur or other problems. Higher tracking quality will take longer to track.
Drift Compensation
Drift compensation should be applied only when there is a noticeable drift of the shape off the track object over time, and the tracked object doesn't change too much over time.
The frame range to choose depends on the duration of the scene where the tracked object is visible and how much the tracked object changes. If possible the compensation range should be large to achieve a good correction. If possible the number of frames to use should be at least two or three times less than the total number of frames. Eg for a clip 170 frames long, don’t use a number of frames for drift compensation greater than 50.
Track Processing Options
Motion Blur
When inserting graphics and text using TrackX you can turn on Motion blur in the Tracking options. This will allow for a much more realistic look when inserting graphics / signs or screen replacements. Please note that using Motion Blur increases render times dramatically so it should only be used as a last stage prior to rendering.
Click on the Motion blur drop down menu and then choose the render quality for motion blur. Higher quality uses more samples and gives a more realistic result but takes longer to render.
Adjusting the shutter angle changes the distance between motion blur samples. A higher shutter angle will create longer “trails” on motion. You should adjust the shutter angle to match the real motion blur in the scene depending on the actual shutter angle you shot with.
Track Depth
Track Depth adjusts the track data to simulate an object being either further from the camera than the object you tracked or closer to camera. Using this adjustment you can track a background object, eg a green screen and then place the actual tracked background much further back in depth in order to simulate parallax movement.
The “Further” values slow down the movement and the “Closer” values speed up the tracked movement. Please note that track depth does not work realistically with strong perspective changes.
Track Smoothing
This parameter lets you smooth track data by averaging the track over time. Higher values smooth the track over a longer time period. This can be useful when trying to track a moving label next to an object but would probably not be useful when inserting graphics or text onto an actual camera movement with Track Layer. Generally a very small value of 0.2 or 0.3 is enough to smooth out bumps.
